Bio :

  • Wai Mun has accumulated substantive academic and industrial expertise in functional food/ nutraceutical product R&D and validation. He has authored more than 30 scientific articles in international peer-review journals and has involved in the design and development of numerous innovative functional food and nutraceutical products. Wai Mun obtained his Ph.D. with Distinction (Chemistry & Pharmacology) at the University of Western Australia, and continued his postdoctoral training at the National University of Singapore, before taking up a lectureship and R&D position at Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore. In 2013, Wai Mun set up the Centre for Functional Food & Human Nutrition at Nanyang Polytechnic, and has since worked with numerous local food companies to validate and develop novel functional food products. He had conducted and published the results of numerous human randomised controlled trials and animal studies which validated the efficacy of nutraceutical ingredients.  Other than R&D, Wai Mun lectured Food Chemistry and Human Nutrition. Wai Mun has worked as a convenor with Singapore Standard Development Office in setting up the guidelines for Singapore food industry to design and develop functional food products. In 2017, Wai Mun set up and manage Innovprof – a privately-own company, to bring forth his R&D capability to the functional food industry. A year later, he set up Innovfood Pte Ltd to manufacture and retail innovative functional food and nutraceutical products – designed and developed by Innovprof. Innovfood’s first commercial product, Nutrixin® Apple Peel Essence was officially launched to the local consumers in April 2019. The inaugural product has since won numerous local and international innovative beverage awards. He is also currently holding adjunct lecturing positions at Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore.
