Bio :
Vikram Sabapathy is a Research Associate at Center of Immunity, Inflammation, and Regenerative Medicine (CIIR), University of Virginia, USA. He obtained his Ph.D. from at Centre for Stem Cell Research (CSCR), Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore, India. His Ph.D. thesis broadly deals with the characterisation of perinatal MSCs, generation of safer human iPSCs and tissue engineering studies for translational applications. His research interest includes understanding the complex aspects of the cellular reprogramming, tissue repair, and regeneration. Some of his notable achievements include Marie Curie Research Fellowship in Regenerative Medicine – University of Bath, UK; Young Investigator Award - National Kidney Foundation (March 2017), USA, Kidney Star Award - American Society of Nephrology (Nov 2017), USA, Carey-Marshall-Thorner Outstanding Research Award, University of Virginia (May 16, 2018 and May 8, 2020), Karen L. Campbell Award (Oct 2018) and O’Brien Fellowship (Jan 2020). He has authored several highly-cited papers (12 articles) and 2 book chapters in Methods in Molecular Biology - Adult Stem Cells by Springer New York. Currently, he is working on projects to examine the role of immune cells in renal tissue development, repair, and regeneration.
