Ronn Johnson, Ph.D., ABPP is a tenured full professor of psychiatry as well as the Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion at Creighton University School of Medicine. Concurrently, he is the lead clinical psychologist at the mental health clinic at the Nebraska-Western VA Healthcare System (NWI). Prior to NWI, he was the Western Regional Director for the American Board of Professional Psychology. At Creighton, he is the architect of the Three R framework used as part of a diversity and Inclusion strategic plan for Underrepresented in Medicine (URM) and underserved populations. He was the recipient of a national partnership award for a program that he developed for serving Middle Eastern and Latinx at the Urban Corp of San Diego County.
He has founded and directed mental health services to a wide range of underrepresented in medicine and underserved groups. For example, he co-founded ELIM Counseling Center which delivered mental health care to Korean Americans. The Southern California American Indian Resources or SCAIR is where he crafted clinical mental health services for urban and reservation Native Americans. At a previous academic post, he served as the faculty advisor for A.S.I.A and the campus chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers.
Dr. Johnson’s scholarship interests are health disparities for URMs/US, forensic psychology and mental health services for ethnoracially diverse veterans. He is a member of the Nebraska Violence Risk Assessment Cadre. At Creighton, his office houses two recent student groups that include Justice in Medicine and White Coats for Black Lives. More recently, he has facilitated diversity trainings for the boards of OneWorld Community Health Centers and the California CASA Association.
