Dr. Friedman is a mixed methods, community-based participatory researcher. His research topics include: health inequalities, substance abuse treatment, homelessness, non-profit management, family systems, obesity, mental health, child welfare, spirituality, educational methods, and batterer’s intervention programs. Dr. Friedman is a member of a number of journal editorial boards and is a HRSA peer reviewer for the National Institute of Health. He is the author of eleven books including: The Research Tool Kit - Problem-Solving Process for the Social Sciences, Community-Based Participatory Action Research, Public Health, Social Work and Health Inequalities, and How to Teach Effectively: a brief guide.
